Ladies ~ What are your husbands'/boyfriends' favorite baby names? OR Guys ~ What are your favorite baby names?
My husband has good taste in girls' names. He doesn't like anything too trendy or common, but he prefers names most people have heard of. His favorite girls' name (which he saw on Yahoo! Answers one day while reading over my shoulder) is Sonia Belle. He also loves Clara. (I think I originally suggested Clara, but he has latched onto it as one of his favorites). Others on my favorites list that he likes too are Eleanor, Miriam, and Susanna. We've tentatively agreed that Clara will be our first daughter. If he still likes Sonia by the time we have a second daughter, then Sonia will be a top contender for the second girls' name.





We're having a harder time agreeing on boys' names. The only two he has ever suggested to me without prompting are Jeremy and Diego -- neither is a bad name, but neither is quite what I want. For boys' names, it seems like he either likes those which are more common among his generation (Jeremy, Timothy) or those which sound very Spanish (Diego, Mateo). We'll probably end up agreeing on English classics or biblical classics for our son (provided they don't sound "too


biblical" to him). Names I've suggested that he approves of are Caleb, Abraham, Edward, Kenneth, Henry, Wesley, and Frederick. Surprisingly enough, Abraham isn't classified as "too biblical" because he associates it with one of his favorite presidents.





Overall, I think I got pretty lucky. I've heard a lot of men tend to like girls' names that were popular while they were growing up (Jessica, Amber, Tiffany, Melissa) since those are the names they associate with pretty girls. Some men also like boys' names that are way too macho for me (Gunner, Hunter, Blade) and he's not into those. Even before he started reading over my shoulder when I'm on here, he had a pretty good idea of which names were too common (perhaps from friends' kids or from hearing about my first-grade students), so he was never likely to insist on something like Ethan, Aidan, Olivia, or Sofia.
Reply:My husband likes Tristan Riley (thank God) %26amp; Sebastian without a middle name, %26amp; Austin for boys. Which are names that I love!!!! Although it has been hard getting to this point at first he was offering names like Steve Austin. For girls which is a harder one for us he loves Stevie Jean, Tatum %26amp; Taylor. We finally agreed on Lillian Taylor, which I love. He tends to veto a lot of the names that I like, he thinks that the first time he hears the perfect name he will know.
Reply:My boyfriend loves really uncommon and unique names for a little girl like HALO (no, not after the stupid video game haha we have lives) and Lux and Patience and Brodie (usually for a boy)


he says pretty girls are always alot prettier if they have a unique name.


and for a boy he like masculine and more common names Radley, West, Ryder. . . . .he thinks boys cant handle unique names as well as girls
Reply:My fiance is the one who thought of our son's name, Roscoe. When he told me the name, I fell in love with it! What he didn't tell me about the name is that here in NY there is a town named Roscoe which is the trout capital of NY and that Roscoe is a slang name for a pistol. I found this out after I gave birth and named him that. But even if he told me before hand, I still would have named him that just because I love it.





My fiance also liked the name Lance and Wyatt for a boy and Brooke for a girl (Roscoes name would have been Brooke Elizabeth if he was a girl)
